Here’s how it started…

Beginnings: Pursuing a passion

Driven by a commitment to social progress and innovation, Peter has spent over a decade as a journalist and communicator pursuing his passions through digital storytelling and strategic communications. He began his career as a writer/associate producer at Global News (BC) after studying journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where he co-founded the school’s chapter of Journalists for Human Rights. In 2006, he transitioned to radio at CKNW as a reporter/producer covering a range of stories from politics to breaking news and won an RTNDA Dan McArthur Award for In-Depth Investigation.

A seasoned storyteller in Canada’s largest media market

In 2011, Peter moved to Toronto where he worked as a reporter/anchor for CityNews (Citytv) and then Global Toronto. As a journalist and communicator, he has provided in-depth coverage on a broad range of issues with a particular skill and focus in the areas of technology, innovation, and public policy.

Empowering others to tell their stories

In 2017, Peter stepped into the next chapter of his professional life: strategic communications, first with a human rights legal organization based out of Vancouver and then as director of communications and digital engagement for the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition, a policy advocacy organization based out of Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. During this time, he also co-founded Vancouver’s chapter of Data for Good, a national nonprofit comprised of data scientists who use their skills to accelerate and amplify positive social change.

In his spare time, Peter is an avid tennis player (4.5 NTRP) and enjoys hiking and running along the trails of the North Shore.
